Full disclosure: I totally copied this idea from the brilliant minds and ideas shared on Pinterest before the wedding, but I have been so satisfied with the result, I have to share our version of the "fingerprint tree" guestbook.
My dad is a guru of all things creative, from calligraphy to watercolor, illustration to home renovation. So when I saw this idea, I knew the perfect person to ask. I'd like to say Dad whipped this up in an hour or two, but he is far too much of a perfectionist for that - in fact, he made two versions, one with color in the bark and one black and white - just so we could choose our favorite. (Have I mentioned he's amazing?)
Here's the how the guestbook started on the Saturday of our wedding (with only a single raindrop hitting the canvas before my mom whisked it away during the short sprinkle that afternoon).
Guests seemed to have a lot of fun "signing" the guestbook, choosing a color from the ink pads, pressing their fingertip in, and creating a "leaf" on the tree. They they signed their name, washed up and added to the fun memories we have to look back on from that day.
From the littlest guest to the biggest (well, in thumbprint size, anyway), everyone made their mark including my cousins' new baby, Escher!
Now we've added it to the collection of things adorning the mantle, and love being reminded of the wonderful friends and family, near and far, who support us!
